You’ve heard of Oscar wrap parties - well, get ready to strap in and set your inertial compensators to full! To celebrate an amazing solar observing season, our Observing Commander-in-Chief and weather guru, Mike, invited all the volunteers to a night of merriment at the Old Brewery pub in Greenwich.
This was our first-ever wrap party - hard to believe, right? But it’s true, and after last night, I’m sure it won’t be the last. If you can remember Thursday evening, it just proves our volunteers are hardcore. No wind or rain could stop us from having a drink - quite the opposite, in fact!
Midway through, Mike gave a fantastic speech thanking us all for our support, followed by our one and only Chair, Bobby, who praised Mike for his hard work in organising the solar observing season. Both speeches were met with roaring applause and cheers that echoed through the pub - just goes to show that science and fun really do go hand in hand! 😊
The entire committee wants to say a massive thank you to all the volunteers this season - a record number of over 30! We couldn’t run these events without your help and support.
Now, we move on to our Blackheath season, starting on 14th September. We hope to see you all there! 😊
