Another year has gone by ... And what a great evening we had! Thank you to everyone who came along to the Christmas social on 12th December and made it so much fun. There was so much chat and laughter - swapping memories and stories of the past year's observing (quite a few members have bought their first (or second or third ...) telescopes recently), events and socials, and also looking forward with plans and ideas (and purchases!) for next year!

We tried a new venue this time, and went to The Mitre in Greenwich for the first time. A lovely pub with friendly staff, the food was yummy, the pints a bit cheaper than our usual venue, we could have done with a little more space though (it was a tad "cosy"), and not as loud as our usual venue. So having a conversation was a bit easier - and there was A LOT of that!! The staff said we were a great group and they loved having us there.

Quite a few people couldn't make it due to illness (flu season!), which is a real shame, but we counted 38 people at one point, lots of familiar faces of course and a few newer ones too.

I feel we did Flamsteed Astronomy Society proud and we are keeping alive our reputation of "a drinking club with a serious astronomy problem" 🙂.

Hope you all had a lovely evening, and wishing you a Merry Christmas and fantastic 2026!
