About the Event

The event starts at 11am, but some Flamsteed volunteers will be on-site from 10.30am as we set up the solar telescopes.

Note that the event is weather-dependent, and a go/no-go message will be posted here the day before the event.

The session takes place at the Dolphin Sundial area, just inside the main entrance at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. Flamsteed Astronomy Society volunteers will be on hand with specialist solar telescopes, offering safe and fascinating views of the Sun – including sunspots, prominences, and other solar features.

Please note that normal Royal Observatory admission charges apply. There’s no additional cost to attend the solar viewing.

We look forward to seeing you – fingers crossed for clear skies and a busy Sun!

Flamsteed members can enter for free as part of their museum membership. If you’re not a member, the event is open to anyone on site!
