Final Solar Viewing Session Cancelled 🌥️
Unfortunately, the planned public solar viewing session at the Royal Observatory Greenwich on Saturday 30 August has been cancelled.
While the forecast suggests there may be some early clear spells, cloud is expected to build from mid-morning, leaving us with only a 50/50 chance of getting any usable viewing time. Given the setup involved and the likelihood of significant disruption, we’ve decided not to proceed.
This would have been our final solar event of the season. Despite the cancellation, it’s been a hugely successful programme — we’ve delivered 13 successful solar viewing sessions out of 15 planned this year, welcoming thousands of visitors and showcasing the Sun’s activity to the public.
Thank you to everyone who joined us throughout the season, and especially to our fantastic team of volunteers for making it all possible.
