About the Event
Please note, this event is held inside the Royal Observatory, so normal entrance charges apply. Flamsteed members can enter for free as part of their museum membership. If you’re not a member, the event is open to anyone on site!
The partial solar eclipse begins at 6.17pm BST in London and ends at 8.07pm (though we will be ending the evemt at 8pm).
The eclipse will reach its 'maximum' - the moment when the greatest portion of the Sun is hidden - at 7.13pm. During this eclipse, a the maximum of around 90% of the Sun will be obscured.
We will have a short 'normal' solar observing session before the start of the eclipse.
Note that the event is weather-dependent, and a go/no-go message will be posted here the day before the event.
The session takes place at the Dolphin Sundial area, just inside the main entrance at the Royal Observatory…
