About the Event
THE EVENT IS SOLD OUT.
Please note, this event is held inside the Royal Observatory, so normal entrance charges apply.
The partial solar eclipse begins at 6.17pm BST in London and ends at 8.07pm (though we will be ending the event at 8pm).
The eclipse will reach its 'maximum' - the moment when the greatest portion of the Sun is hidden - at 7.13pm. During this eclipse, a the maximum of around 90% of the Sun will be obscured.
We will have a short 'normal' solar observing session before the start of the eclipse.
The session takes place at the Dolphin Sundial area, just inside the main entrance at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. Flamsteed Astronomy Society volunteers will be on hand with specialist solar telescopes, offering safe views of the Sun.
