About the Event

Smart telescopes have taken the astronomy world by storm, combining optics, sensors and automation to make observing easier than ever before. From the compact Seestar S30/S50 and Dwarf III, to the sleek Vaonis Vespera and powerful Celestron Origin, these app-controlled instruments can align, track and capture deep-sky objects in minutes.

In this presentation, we’ll explore how these devices work, what they can (and can’t) do, and how they are transforming both personal astronomy and public outreach. We’ll look at examples from Flamsteed members who have been using smartscopes in the field, and discuss whether this technology represents the future of amateur astronomy - or just one more tool in the kit.

Join us for a fascinating overview of this fast-moving part of our hobby, with plenty of time for questions and discussion.
