About the Event

Public Solar Viewing Confirmed ON – Friday 13 June 2025

We’re pleased to confirm that our next solar viewing session at the Royal Observatory Greenwich will take place on Friday 13 June 2025, from 11am to 4pm.

The weather forecast suggests hot conditions with periods of sunshine and some high haze. Thunderstorms are expected later in the day, but should arrive after the session concludes.

Our volunteers will be set up from 10.30am by the Dolphin Sundial area, and will be using a range of specialist solar telescopes to safely showcase the features of our nearest star – including sunspots, prominences and filaments, subject to solar activity.

Please note: Normal admission charges apply to enter the Royal Observatory Greenwich. Flamsteed members can enter for free as part of their museum membership. If you’re not a member, the event is open to anyone on site!

Location will be by the Dolphin…
