The Flamsteed Astronomy Society (FAS) has previously hosted two sketching workshops and we decided to take it up a notch and do some Astronomy Art using mixed mediums. Astronomy and Art has had a long relationship going back to ancient civilizations where the medium of art was used to interpret the objects and patterns of the heavens. This is our opportunity to put away those cameras and let loose our creative side to stamp our own unique interpretations of the night sky. Don’t worry if you have never done any paintings or drawings before, as this is for complete beginners.
What You can Expect
We will use a range of art mediums including pencils, oil pastels, wax crayons and charcoal to produce an art piece of the night sky. Participants will go through the process of drawing the scene, adding and blending dark and light colours and…
