About the Event
Black Holes are amongst the strangest things in the universe, but in some ways they are actually very simple. How did we get from theory to detection, and what place do they have in the story of the universe?
This talk will introduce the concepts of black holes and how they work, and provide advice for anyone falling into one… and help you understand how the former part makes the latter part completely useless… Time travel and gravitational waves may also be involved.
Dr. Edward Bloomer is one of the Senior Astronomy Managers at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, responsible for running the planetarium amongst other things.
He is the author of the Illuminates: Black Holes, and has a background in gravitational wave data analysis from the Institute of Gravitational Research at the University of Glasgow.
