Flamsteed Astronomy Society is joining forces with The British Astronomical Association (BAA) and the Society for Popular Astronomy (SPA) to bring you this fantastic opportunity to explore the basics of astronomy.
This full day workshop will provide a comprehensive introduction and will cover all the basics of astronomy including understanding the universe from our closest neighbours in our solar system out to farthest away deep sky objects, observing the night sky, selecting telescopes and binoculars, astrophotography, how to get started, how to connect with other enthusiasts and much much more! Also included is a planetarium show at the Royal Observatory.
There will be equipment to look at and astronomy stands to explore during the breaks, and expert and fellow amateur astronomers to talk to. And also a free raffle, a fun quiz with prizes and goodie bags to take away with you. The cost also includes morning and afternoon refreshments (but not lunch).
Speakers will include Bobby Manoo, Mike Meynell and Mark Jeffery from Flamsteed, Nick James, Philip Jennings and Richard Miles from the BAA and Robin Scagell from the SPA.
The event will be interesting to young persons and adults, and to complete beginners as well as those with some knowledge who want a refresher in the basics. The event will be open to members and non-members, so why not bring your friends and relatives?
Costs will be: £8 for members of Flamsteed, BAA and SPA, £10 for adult (18 and over) members of the public, and £5 for Under 18s (accompanied by an adult).
Further information including booking details will be available shortly.
