About the Event

Dr Mariangela Bonavita will be talking about the differences and similarities between the planets in our Solar Systems and those found around other stars (exoplanets), what we have learned so far about planet formation and what are the key questions yet to be answered.

Biography

Dr Mariangela Bonavita got her PhD in Astronomy from the University of Padova, Italy, then moved on for a short time to the University of Toronto and then to the University of Edinburgh in 2014. She has been a lecturer at the Open University since 2019, but work for them remotely from Edinburgh.

Her research focuses on the discovery and characterisation of young Jupiter-like planets with direct imaging.
