See below for details about joining the Society and types of membership available. If you have any further questions, please use the Contact Us section. If you’re undecided about joining please feel free to come along to one of our pub evenings and meet some of the members (see the Home page or Observing Diary for dates). If you would like an invitation to sample one of our lecture evenings or observing events as a guest, then please use our Contact Us page to let us know, or call Jane Bendall on 020 8852 6533 to chat. If you would like to join the Society you can let us know by: — completing the on-line form below and clicking the “Send Message” button at the bottom. We will contact you shortly with details etc. — or, if you’d like to e-mail us now, please see the ‘ Contact Us’ page — or you can telephone the Membership Office of the National Maritime Museum during working hours on 020 8312 6678
The Flamsteed provides excellent value for money. We support the work of the Royal Observatory Greenwich through donations of our time, equipment, and money, while enhancing the knowledge, experience and enjoyment of astronomy for our members through a programme of first-class lectures and other events. We have access to the professional astronomy staff at the ROG as well as enjoying a world heritage site and the equipment and facilities of the ROG and National Maritime Museum The Flamsteed is a special interest group within the membership organisation of the National Maritime Museum. Membership of the Flamsteed includes membership of the NMM (adult rate normally £40 alone) which provides an opportunity to support the work of the NMM and ROG and confers many benefits including shop and cafe discounts, newsletters, a programme of member events, and free personal entry to the Peter Harrison Planetarium and special exhibitions (such as the Nelson and Napoleon exhibition in 2005). If you are already a member of the NMM (formerly the Friends of the NMM) please enter your membership number in the box indicated below — your NMM member subscription will be deducted from the Flamsteed subscription payable. Membership of the Flamsteed Astronomy Society (including membership of the NMM) is £70 per person a year, which provides entry to the published programme of monthly meetings, on-site workshops, and observing sessions. See below for details of membership types and concessionary rates available. There may be additional charges for optional outside visits and events. Members of the Flamsteed must be over 18 years of age.
