Partial Solar Eclipse

October 3, 2005

“And all too soon it was over… “

Ain’t it always the way?   Blink and you miss it.   There’s a unique sense of loss at the end of an eclipse.

The kids drift off.   A group of grown-ups hang round the H-alpha.  We switch to the 12mm eyepiece for higher magnification and ooh and aah at the prominences.

45 minutes after it ended, the TV people turned-up.  Would we mind doing it all again please?

Taken through the H-alpha Coronado.  Out of focus and shaky, but pretty!
